Since I've been gone...

I haven't posted a lot because, I don't have access to a computer like before.  Both laptop computer cords died.  That means we need to buy new ones.  That requires money I'm not willing to spend.  Matt brought his work laptop home which has the same type of plug needed for my HP laptop.  Voila! I have power! Now I can finally download the 171 pictures that have been stuck on my camera, phew!

It's been a crazy busy couple of months.  I started working at the YMCA at the beginning of September.  I'm just at the front desk welcome center.  The work in general is not that hard, but the learning process of a new job is never fun.  Luckily, I have a good boss and awesome coworkers.  My friend, Charli is the reason I even applied for the job.  She is the one who told me they were hiring.  She works there along with another homeschooling mom, Jessica.  What is kind of funny is that all three of us are on the Quest (home school co-op) board.  However, we don't usually work the same schedules at the Y.

Quest has started it's fall semester.  We have definitely grown.  I think this Fall registration has seen the biggest increase in families.  Zach told me that when he thinks back on his childhood, Quest is going to be a big positive memory for him.  I'm so glad we have been involved with this co-op for so many years!  Our kids love the youth group at church, but getting to be around people who are homeschooling too has a special place in our hearts.  Maybe it's because they have sometimes needed to defend homeschooling while at church, where as, with other homeschoolers we can relax a bit more.

Zach is now 14 and a Freshman. Goes to Craig High School for French classes, but is otherwise still homeschooled.  He is still a big science nerd and has skipped ahead to biology since the normal required science for a 9th grader was too easy for him.  Other than, that he is right on course in school.
Zach and Sam joined Cross Country.  Zach is finding it a physical challenge.  But he is noticing, as he practices, that he is improving.

Samantha is 11 and in the 6th grade now.  She is growing so fast!  She is as tall as Zach was at 12.  She goes through clothes like crazy!  Being dyslexic has not hindered her too much.  She's doing really well in school since homeschooling allows her to learn at her pace and style.
Sam has been enjoying Cross Country.  She gets an endorphin high when she runs.  She loves it!  This last race she said she got a little sick, but a drink of water took care of that.

Matt is still doing well at his job at State Collections.  He was on their softball team this summer.
They were, unfortunately, the worst team of all the leagues.  But hey, it's just for fun right?  Matt being in softball kind of got us all into it.  For Father's Day we even went to the Batcave.  It's an old theater turned in to batting cages.
It was hot in there and smelled of sweat so we took the fun to a park after we had enough.  Ah, fresh air!

I can't believe the summer is over.  It went by so fast!  Of course this blog is just a short, "where we are at" sort of blog and if I wrote everything that went this summer, it would take hours/days to finish.  So, I will try and catch up on what happened this summer.  I already started Samantha's blog about her trip to California. It will be back dated of course so you will have to look for that one as if I posted it before this one.  Confused yet?  Welcome to my world.
